New Vintage Handmade Shibori INDIGO TIE DYE COTTON Table Cover Tapestry • 34 " x34.5 "   (86cm x 87cm) This listing is for a new, unused Japanese indigo tie dye cotton cloth that can be used as decorative table cover, bed cover, or framed wall hanging. Dimensions :  34" x 34.5" (86cm x 87.6cm) Color :  White and two shades of blue Material :  100% Cotton Care :  This cloth can be hand washed in cool water.  Add some salt to the water for the first few washings.  To dry, hang it away from direct sunlight.  To iron, if necessary, do so with a cool iron on the back of the cloth.  Do not iron the front of the cloth and do not use steam. Condition :  New, unused, sealed in original packaging. This was purchased in China from a cooperative that hires women from nearby villages and trains them in the traditional art of tie dying.  The cooperative uses only natural dyes and produces high quality tie dye products for export to Japan. The intricate design is made by carefully stitching white cloth in a prescribed pattern and repeatedly dipping the cloth in dye to obtain the desired color.  Then the stitches are removed to reveal the pattern and the cloth is dried.  It is a labor-intensive process and the stitching requires great skill.
